Creative Critical Reflection #3

How did your production skills develop throughout this project? Throughout this project, I have learned to work with others and take the position of a directing role. After studying title sequences of other movies, I've learned how to format and edit the title sequence for my own film. At the the beginning of this project, I had some knowledge of using technologies to edit films, but now I know how to edit in the conventional way. In other home movies I've made, I never had to add titles, so this project helped me understand where to place titles that looked good in the frame. I now have more knowledge about what goes into a movie before it is screen, like the distribution of film, how it is advertised, and how it is made.

How does your product engage with audiences and how could it be distributed as a real media text? A Not So Merry Christmas is about Santa getting fired from his job. As a Christmas movie, it will get more attention during the holidays. Our movie is also a comedy, similar to the style of the show, The Office. We wanted to target ages 15 to 45. After a movie is premiered, it usually takes 12 to 16 weeks for that movie to get on DVD and BluRay and streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu.To advertise our film, we made an instagram account where we will post information about the film until it is released. We also had the main actors post about the film to help...

How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware, and online - in this project? Aside from using Google Blogger to update my progress and organize my research, I used many apps on my phone and many programs on the MacBook Air for this project. I used an iPhone 7 to record the film, and used the editing software, iMovie, to edit it. For the title sequence, the text was typed out in the Preview app on the MacBook, and was then imported into iMovie. Although iMovie has a text option, I decided to type the text separately in this app because iMovie had limited fonts. For my marketing plan, I had a photo shoot with the main character, Caleb Irwin, and I used an iPhone 7 to take the pictures. After I picked the photo I liked the most, I imported it into PicsArt to delete the background to get rid of the shadows. I used VSCO to fix the brightness and contrast and filter. I then imported it into Phonto where I added the text "UP TO SNOW GOOD." All of these programs were apps ...
